Terry Weyman

Lead Pastor

Pastor Terry joined the Greenville First Nazarene family as its new Lead Pastor on Easter Sunday 2015. How’s that for a first day of work? It was awesome! Within his first year of ministry, there have been many exciting changes. We are now GFN Church with a clarified vision focusing on God, Family, Neighbor.

In his 23 years in ministry, Pastor Terry has served as Lead Pastor and/or Youth Pastor in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New Mexico. He enjoys the preaching ministry, and he brings a lot of creativity to his messages which will impact all your senses. But hang on. He serves up meat, not milk in his scripture-based sermons. Another thing he loves about ministry is “seeing people encounter Christ by the Holy Spirit and be transformed by our Lord.”

Pastor Terry and his wife, Miriam, have two grown daughters, Elizabeth and Tori. Elizabeth graduated from college in 2016 and Tori is in the midst of her college years. Both girls are planning for ministry. Personally, Pastor Terry enjoys surf fishing to relax and golf, as a mental challenge.

As a family, the Weymans have always loved camping. Pastor Terry used many of their crazy camping stories in a book he wrote about finding hope in life’s storms: Tents, Trials & Triumphs: Finding Hope in the Storms of Life. You can find it on Amazon. You can also find encouragement and challenge in Pastor Terry’s daily devotional blog.

SARA MATSON

Children's Pastor

@smatson6

GFN’s Children’s Ministry is in the capable and creative hands of Pastor Sara. After teaching in public schools for seven years, God called Sara into full time ministry to children. Sara and her family, husband Lyndon, daughters Ava and Ellie, have joined the GFN Church family in the last few months after serving more than a year at their church in Manteno, Illinois.

Sara sees her ministry as an exciting opportunity to: 1) teach the children about God and how much he loves each of them; 2) share in how our families reflect God’s love; and 3- provide opportunities for the children to reach out to their neighbors and serve them.

Having always wanted to live in the Carolinas, Sara and her family are delighted that God has placed them here in Greenville. They love the weather and all that the area has to offer. Sara’s favorite food is ice cream, because there’s always room for ice cream, and she also reports that her feet are two different sizes.

MARTIN BURNS

Youth Pastor

@roadrunner1043

As GFN’s Youth Pastor, Martin has a passion for teens – leading them to Christ and discipling them in how to live their life following Jesus. He especially enjoys encouraging teens and seeing them grow confident in themselves and their walk with Christ. He felt called by God into youth ministry during his 2nd semester at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio.

Martin has been a youth pastor for 13 years and with GFN Church for almost a year. He grew up in DuBois, Pennsylvania, but is enjoying the move to South Carolina. He and his family, wife Heather, sons Kaden and Elisha, and daughter Jillian, are an active family. Together they enjoy trampolines, play grounds and the beach. Martin’s favorite hobbies include running, ultimate Frisbee, hiking, drawing and model airplanes.

Martin admits to being a morning person, and he finds Mondays to be his most productive days.

TIM GODBY

Worship & Arts Pastor

tgodby@greenvillenaz.org
(864) 233-4890, ext. 15
@tgodby

Pastor Tim’s passion in ministry is to worship with sincerity of heart and to be a part of leading others to do the same. He’s spent more than 20 of his 33 years in ministry at GFN Church leading the GFN family to God’s throne in worship through scripture, drama, video, and an amazing variety of music. Together with a great team of dedicated worship leaders, they help focus our minds and hearts to receive a special touch from the Lord when we gather together.

Tim is a man of many talents and interests besides music. He enjoys studying and teaching the cultural norms of Jesus’ day to bring greater clarity to scripture, technology (anything Apple-related), Disney, motorcycles, and much more. He describes motorcycle riding as one of the most beneficial and therapeutic of his hobbies! One of his best kept secrets is that he has been to Superbike Racing School – and passed!

Tim and his wife Jane (a nurse) have three “just grown” children – Will, Joe and Ashleigh – of whom he is very proud, saying, “They are three of the greatest gifts God has ever given me!”

BEN LAPLACE

Community Connections and Campus Expansion Pastor

blaplace@greenvillenaz.org

@benlaplace

Pastor Ben leads the GFN family in finding new and creative ways to engage in the communities God has placed us in. Whether he’s organizing and leading us in a service project, meeting and making new friends at a block party, a conversation over coffee, in a classroom. . . even on a backpacking trip, Ben loves to help others discover and take hold of God’s plan to transform their lives so that they may be God’s image-bearer in the world.

Ben’s favorite food is Low Country boil even though he grew up in a small town in southern Michigan near Elkhart, Indiana. He has been in ministry for 14 years as a retreat speaker and worship leader, associate pastor in Michigan, and church planter and lead pastor in Aiken, SC, before coming to GFN.

Ben, his wife Angela, and their two boys, Dylan and Grahm, love the outdoors and going on adventures together, including rides on the Swamp Rabbit Trail, hiking in the woods, or a road trip to a new place.  Ben also makes hammocks and prefers life with no shoes (whenever possible).

Milton Harrington

Associate Pastor

mharrington@greenvillenaz.org

Pastor Milton is GFN’s Minister of Pastoral Care. This precious man of God has been in ministry for 70 years, 17 of those right here at GFN Church! He grew up in Colorado and began his ministry on the west coast as a church pastor and evangelist. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at a Bible College. He finds it a privilege to continue to be able to minister to people when needed. His passion in ministry has always been to be true and faithful to what God expects of him and encourage others to do the same.

Pastor Milton and his wife Norma love Greenville, especially being near family, including their daughter Pam, two granddaughters, Cindy and Karen, and four great-grandchildren. Besides ministry and family, Pastor Milton loves Chinese and Japanese food best, enjoys computers, reading Western novels and watching Western movies. First popular when he was growing up, he finds Westerns to be restful and a great spark for his imagination.

NANCY SCHMITZ

Office Administrator

nschmitz@greenvillenaz.org
(864) 233-4890, ext. 25
@nschmitz

Nancy has been the Office Administrator at GFN Church for 19 years. So now you know who has all the answers! She has stayed around because she loves what she does and who she does it with and for. Nancy loves organizing and making plans, and her responsibilities allow her to help others in ministry that can use her assistance and talents.

Nancy pretty much grew up in Greenville and GFN Church. She likes to tease newcomers to Greenville about the “mice problem” we have on Main Street (if you’re local, you know). But she also loves the art and music environment in Greenville, including the many outdoor concerts and art shows! Nancy and her family (husband Alan), grown children – Kaylyn, Alyson, and Jon Kyle, and granddaughter Mia – love vacationing at the beach with extended family each summer.

An interesting little known fact about Nancy: She has fulfilled her childhood dream to be a dancer with a love for Ball Room dancing! She even competed a few times as a young adult.
